Method 1: Fix sound problem in FLV file.

Lots of people watch or download the video from the website, such as Youtube. But sometimes users face problem regarding the sound. Here we are going to show the steps of how to solve the sound problem.

  • Flash store each video file in a temporary folder. Download of corrupt FLV file can cause the sound issue.
    Delete the following folders on Windows XP:
    C:\DocumentsAndSettings\%UserName%\ApplicationData\Adobe\FlashPlayer
    C:\DocumentsAndSettings\%UserName%\ApplicationData\Macromedia\FlashPlayer
    Delete the following folders on Vista/7/8:
    C:\Users\%UserName%\AppData\Roaming\Adobe\FlashPlayer
    C:\Users\%UserName%\AppData\Roaming\Macromedia\Flash Player
  • Clear temporary Internet files to fix FLV files
    Internet Explorer: Tools > Internet-Options
    Firefox: History > Clear-Private-Data
    Chrome: Setting > Clear-Browser-Data
    Opera: Tools > Delete-Private-Data
  • Clear your Temporary files.
    Press Win+R and type %temp% > press Enter. After that, clear all the temporary files.
  • Download and Install the updated version of Flash Player Plug-in. If you are having trouble in upgrading the Flash player plugin, then uninstall the current flash player installed in the system. And reinstall the latest version Flash Player plugin in the system
  • Download the Codex Tweak Tool and Run it to repair FLV file. Click on the Fix Button. Activate the option called Fix broken sound and press Next Button. If that option is grayed out, it means that the particular fix is not required, and FLV file is corrupted due to some other reason . This can be fixed by restoring a missing wavemapper registry key.
  • Check the system sound device setting to recover FLV files:
    Start > Setting > Control Panel > Sound and Audio Devices > Audio
  • Check the file msacm32.drv is present or not in the C:\Windows\system32 folder. If it’s not present, copy it from another system and place the file into C:\Windows\system32 folder. In case, windows 64-bit version is used , then the file is present in the C:\Windows\SysWOW64.
  • To scan for missing and damaged system files in the Windows,use command:
    Start > Run > sfc.exe /scannow.
  • If system is having sound issue with other media applications, then re-install the audio driver. That will repair FLV file as well.
  • If the system has Quick Time installed, then go to the Quick Time Control Panel. On the other hand, set Default Music Synthesizer to General MIDI in the Audio Tab. Disable Enable Playback of Adobe Flash Tracks on the Advanced Tab, select MIME setting on the browser tab. Make sure Flash Media is unchecked under Miscellaneous.
